Baadhi ya watoto wenzetu waliokuwa wametuakilisha katika kufanikisha mustakabali mzima wa HAKI ZA WATOTO.(kwa msaada wa UNICEF TANZANIA)On Monday 14th June, 16 children from the Baraza la Watoto (Children’s Council), representing children of Tanzania anxiously sat in the State House waiting for the President of Tanzania, HE Jakaya Kikwete to make his entrance. As soon as they sang the national anthem their nerves calmed down and they were confident and ready to ask him questions on child rights issues. They covered a range of issues from teenage pregnancy to street children, violence and abuse against children and the quality of education in the country. The interview with the President will be broadcast on national TV on June 16. As the children continue to fight for their rights they will join the Ministry of Community Development, Gender and Children and other local and international child advocate organizations to officially launch the Children’s Agenda in Dodoma on June 16, which also marks the Day of the African Child.
